Frequently Asked Questions:

How often should teeth be brushed?

Ideally, after every meal, but that is not always possible. The most important thing is to practice oral hygiene twice a day for 2 minutes – in the evening before bedtime (for health) and in the morning (for a beautiful smile and fresh breath). It is important to note that, besides brushing teeth twice a day, how you brush them is equally important. Proper brushing technique involves gentle circular motions from the gum towards the tooth. No surface of the teeth should be neglected. People often make a mistake by paying the most attention to the front surfaces.

Teeth that are weak and damaged often have large fillings or have undergone endodontic treatment. The structure and quality of such teeth are visibly compromised. To protect them from further damage, we recommend using dental crowns. By placing dental crowns on weakened teeth, we actually protect the tooth root, restore the natural appearance and functionality of the tooth and prolong its lifespan.

If your teeth are weak and damaged, feel free to contact us with confidence and we will give you the best advice for your situation.

For patients with completely edentulous jaws, functionality can be restored through three possible solutions: removable, semi-fixed, and fixed.

As the name suggests, a removable prosthetic solution involves a complete denture that can be easily removed and placed by the patient. It is typically made of acrylic material and offers mobility, allowing patients to take it out whenever needed. The fabrication of such a prosthesis typically takes a few days.

A semi-fixed prosthetic solution involves a prosthesis that attaches to two locators. This therapy is performed in the lower jaw and the procedure involves placing two implants in the frontal area of the jaw and creating a prosthesis. After implant placement, it is necessary to wait for 4-6 months for the implants to osseointegrate. The implants are then opened and locators are attached to them, serving as connectors between the prosthesis and implants. While this prosthesis can also be removed, when positioned on the implants, it remains fixed in the mouth.

A completely fixed and permanent solution for edentulous patients is the All-on-4 and All-on-6 therapies. These therapies are also performed in two phases. In the first phase, a temporary fixed restoration is placed within 24 hours of implant placement, providing immediate functionality for completely edentulous patients. After osseointegration, a permanent restoration is created, consisting of 12 zirconia ceramic crowns placed on 4 or 6 implants.

When dealing with a lack of multiple teeth in a row, this issue can be addressed with a semi-fixed or fixed solution. A fixed solution typically involves implant placement. Depending on the situation and the number of missing teeth, it is possible to place a minimum of two or more implants. The implants can then, depending on the situation and the patient's preference, be connected in a dental bridge or a crown can be individually placed on each implant.

Unfortunately, in some cases, patients may not have sufficient bone volume for implant placement and bone augmentation may not be feasible. In such cases, we suggest semi-fixed options in the form of a partial wironit prosthesis. As the name suggests, it is a partial prosthesis that attaches to natural teeth that have been previously crowned, providing a certain level of stability in the mouth. Unlike traditional acrylic dentures, this prosthesis is made of cast wironit metal which does not cover the entire palate, reducing the feeling of a foreign object in the mouth and significantly improving daily functionality.

If you are suffering from a missing tooth, this problem can be resolved either by using a dental bridge or by implant placement. In the past, the most common solution for a missing tooth was to create a dental bridge by grinding down adjacent teeth which would also serve as the support for the bridge to replace the missing tooth. Nowadays, the method of replacing a missing tooth with an implant is becoming increasingly popular. Implant placement is a quick and painless surgical procedure in which a titanium screw is inserted into the bone, providing a permanent prosthetic solution.

What do the procedures look like?

* for the fabrication of a dental bridge on natural teeth, it takes only a few days. Between the first appointment, during which the teeth are prepared and impressions are taken, and the final appointment where ceramic crowns are fixed, it requires only a few visits for trials to ensure that aesthetic and functional parameters are at the highest possible level.

* after implant placement, it is necessary to wait for 3-6 months for the implant to integrate into the bone. After the osseointegration process, a titanium or zirconia superstructure is placed on the implant, serving as a support and ultimately carrying the ceramic crown.

When comparing both options, a dental bridge and a crown on an implant represent equally high-quality and durable prosthetic solutions. If you are unsure which option would be best for your case, feel free to contact us and schedule a free specialist examination with our specialist in oral surgery, Dr. Marko Miličić.
